When does a warranty begin on a new car the date of manufacture or the date of purchase by the customer?

warranty begins on day of purchase by original owner. if u buy a used car that should still be in original warranty, dont rely on manufacturer, honoring the warranty, as you are not original purchaser i have found it is difficult to get proper warranty work even if original purchaser, which is why extra warranties can be bought.most manufactureres warranties have the small print that basically says original purchaser, and not transferrable to second purchaser

If this was a Used Vehicle, then the warranty date began the day it was put into service. So if you bought it used and it was 2 years old, you would have a year of the warranty left with most auto manufacturers, as long as the number of miles have NOT been exceeded. If you buy a vehicle used and it has gone over the mileage allowed by the initial vehicle warranty, then you are out of luck unless you bought extra warranty coverage at the time of purchase. If you are confident that you are within the period of the initial warranty, then contact the manufacturer directly - GM, Chrysler, Ford, Mazda, Toyota all have Customer Service numbers that you can call to lodge a complaint. They will investigate and contact a local dealer to help you.

Warranty coverage on the veh begins when your state Dept of Motor vehs registers the veh as sold. Via title registration etc.  You can have a brand new 2007 model year sitting on the lot with a 3 year 50k warranty.  It can sit on the lot for quite a while, it may not sell for a year who knows.  Warranty coverage does not begin until the car is sold.
