What should you do or not do when driving your brand-new car?

[Edit]
DO break it in properly. Accelerate to around 45 mph if local limits allow. Try to drive mostly on freeway (remember start and stops that happen in city driving, are hard on an engine). This allows the critical parts in your engine to set and wear in properly. I could go into specifics, but that would take too long.

DO NOT turn off engine while waiting at stop lights (this is actually harder on your engine). Anyone who says otherwise is selling you something.

DO change your oil as soon as you can -- or at least at 3,000 miles. If you switch to SYNTHETIC (which I highly recommend) do so after 3,000 miles.

DO NOT BEAT ON YOUR NEW CAR!!!!

DO keep the engine clean!

DO regular air-filter changes.

DON'T neglect it.
