What is a 'clade' in regard to grouping organisms according to similarities?

A clade (klayd) is a group of organisms including all the descendants of one common ancestor. There is a science studying clades, called cladism. Cladism, and clades focus on evolution from one ancestor instead of on quantative analysis of species.
