I was born in Essex (UK) and studied electronics at university, however I discovered computer programming whilst at university and found that much easier. I worked as a programmer at Imperial College and then co-founded a company working in datacomms (X.25, TCP/IP and ATM).
I retired from datacomms around 1999, but still do some programming; I've written a program for camera clubs to use to run their competitions using a laptop with a digital projector. This came out of my interest in photography.
Judging by the questions I've answered, I'm interested in photography, history of computers, vegetarianism, atheism, The Beatles and cricket.
