In the US if you cancel a hotel within twenty four hours of booking can you be charged for the cancellation? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Different properties have different cancellation rules. For example, a small inn or bed and breakfast might require 14 nights advance cancellation and even then a penalty or small fee might be charged. You will find everything in between, too. Most major hotels allow you to cancel all the way up to the same day you're supposed to be checking in with no charge. It is always wise to ask for the "cancellation number" which is a similar concept to the "confirmation number" you are often given at the time of a confirmed booking.
Answer
It is possible, especially if you book with a discounter. Always ask about the cancellation policy.
