If the conductive layer wears off the contacts of a remote control or other rubberized keyboard is there a way to replace that layer?

[Edit]

Replacing Conductive Layer of Remote

depends on whether or not it's really worn off. Could just be glazed over from repeated pressing, since most contact pads are carbon impregnated.

Take a cotton swab and buff the rubber contact to remove the shine. Does the trick around 90-95 percent of the time. Also take a swab and buff the contacts on the circuit board, then give it a try. If that doesn't work, contact MCM electronics at 1-800-543-4330 for some contact paint if they still carry it.
