Answer
A self employeed commerial/ industrial Master Electrician who is a master in his field, in the northeastern U.S. can charge $65.00 per hour for himself. This is coming from a business owner who has been in the trade for 20 years. I think that you may be steering people away from a good trade by not giving out complete information.

The U.S. Department of Labor keeps statistics like this. Here's their info on the hourly rates for electricians in the United States:

In 2002, median hourly earnings of electricians were $19.90. The middle 50 percent earned between $14.95 and $26.50. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $11.81, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $33.21. Median hourly earnings in the industries employing the largest numbers of electricians in 2002 are shown below:

  • Motor vehicle parts manufacturing $28.72
  • Local government 21.15
  • Building equipment contractors 19.54
  • Nonresidential building construction 19.36
  • Employment services 15.46

Depending on experience, apprentices usually start at between 40 and 50 percent of the rate paid to fully trained electricians. As apprentices become more skilled, they receive periodic increases throughout the course of their training. Many employers also provide training opportunities for experienced electricians to improve their skills.

Many construction electricians are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Among unions organizing maintenance electricians are the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine, and Furniture Workers; the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; the International Union, United Automobile, Aircraft and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; and the United Steelworkers of America.

My father and his partener, his brother, own a small local electrician buisness. As far as I know my fater makes $500-$1000 a week.Hopefully this gives you an idea of the pay.Even though the buissness is local he still goes out of town to work for his paying clilents. But this is do to the fact he has around ten years, plus college, of expeirence. That's the only thing I know about the pay of being an electrician.

Answer

I think that electricians earn more then the average of most labour workers out tin the industry. It is one of the most high paid labour jobs there is, second only to a plumber. Plumbers are belived to be earning quite a lot of money these days. If you have a problem at your house it ost something like $100 for them to look at it. Then further money to fix it, as well as money for the time it takes them to fix the problem. But getting back to electricians....They seem to be making a name for themselves in the industry these days, which is quite remarable. Considering the lack of numbers decreasing in the industry.
