Are low voltage landscape light bulbs direct current or ac current?

[Edit]

Answer

Most likely DC

If they plug into the outlet of the home without a transformer (Little heavy boxlike plug such as you see on a cellphone charger. then they are most likely DC.

You can look on the plug if they are not solar, and usually see some information on the transformer such as input = 120v ac and Output = 12v DC, The output voltage is the voltage that you want to look at.

For example: If you have a IPOD and it uses 5v to charge it, then in the Car charger for that said IPOD is going to be a transformer that converts the 12v from your car down to 5v. The Input would be 12volts and the Output would be 5volts.

Same witht the house charger, the only difference is that the House Charger would convert the 120volts AC (Input) down to the 5volts DC (Output).

invariably it will be a low voltage AC/DC invariably will a transformer to isolate and reduce the voltage to a low value. solar does not require any tranformers and/or wireing of any kind the power is the battery being charged by the sun during the day.
