Dark chocolate, in moderation, may have certain health benefits. However it contains lots of sugar and fat, and should not be eaten in significant quantities -- especially by people who are overweight, diabetic or pre-diabetic -- which largely eliminates the benefits.

The primary (alleged) health benefit of chocolate is anti-oxidants. Apart from the fact that it has not been definitely established that orally-administered antioxidant compounds in and of themselves have beneficial effects, there are far more healthful sources, such as dark-colored fruits and vegetables.

Check the sources of information on things like this, keeping in mind that sites and publications that sell the products are not reliable sources.
